Accountancy jobs 'can offer rich rewards'

11 February 2011
Those training for and securing accountancy jobs in the UK could earn high salaries, one professional has declared.

According to the executive director of the Chartered Institute of Management Accountants' (CIMA's) Education division, individuals are increasingly seeing professional finance qualifications as attractive.

Robert Jelly noted this is because they can be used to access job opportunities "not just here in the UK, but throughout the world".

He explained there are "very attractive starting salaries for graduates but for non-graduates too", while those who become qualified through the CIMA process tend to be paid a premium.

Meanwhile, a recent survey carried out by accountancy firm KPMG and the Recruitment and Employment Confederation indicated the number of permanent placements made during January 2011 climbed at the fastest rate for six months.

In addition, a climb in temporary jobs was also seen during the period from December 2010, as employers saw vacancy levels increase.
