Agency work sector witnesses 15 consecutive months of growth

30 September 2011
The agency work sector has witnessed 15 consecutive months of growth, according to new figures.

A report from the European Confederation of Private Employment Agencies (Eurociett) indicates that in June, this industry posted a rise of eight per cent in the amount of hours completed in such jobs.

This comes despite the fact that during the same period, EU 27 unemployment levels on the continent fell by 2.1 per cent.

According to Eurociett, this continuous growth indicates that the recovery is continuing, albeit at a slower pace than that measured in previous months.

Commenting on the findings, Denis Pennel, managing director at Eurociett, set out some recent trends in the industry.

"Recent months have seen the agency work industry's recovery from the crisis slow down. This mirrors the most recent trends," he said.

Earlier in the month, Eurociett policy advisor Michael Freytag suggested social dialogue has a vital role to play in implementing an agency work directive in the European Union.
