Business leaders 'should engage workers'

14 June 2011
Company bosses should ensure that members of staff are aware of the aims of the organization in order to help them feel "part of a cause".

This is the view expressed by director of European Leaders Ashley Ward, who explained heads of firms in the region should be transparent with employees about their aims and the "why about their business".

He added by communicating such messages, even those at a junior level can "see themselves as part of a cause", resulting in a "healthy situation to get for employee engagement".

Mr Ward was commenting after a study by the organization discovered that HR professionals should provide staff with better motivation, as 64 per cent of respondents said that this would help them to work more efficiently.

In addition, the survey showed just over one-third (36 per cent) of employees currently claim to work at their full potential, with 41 per cent wanting management to communicate passion and enthusiasm about work to them, while 37 per cent called for them to make their roles more engaging.
