A further 4,000 people are being hired in India by Capgemini as it continues to expand its presence in the country.
The firm, which recently increased its Indian workforce by 2,500, currently employs more than 23,000 individuals there and is expected to continue recruiting people for technology jobs in India throughout the year.
Based in France, Capgemini is the largest computer consultancy group in Europe, with an increasing Indian base.
Speaking to the Business Standard, Capgemini executive chairman Salil Parekh said: "We plan to see accelerating momentum in our headcount growth throughout the year."
Meanwhile, Capgemini India head of people resource management Cyprian D'Souza told Computerworld the country is the largest services delivery location for the firm, with plans to expand its operations still further.
The company is headquartered in Paris and employs more than 90,000 workers around the world in a range of technology, outsourcing, local professional services and consulting units.
