China 'plans to recruit overseas talent'

Chinese authorities are planning to target foreign talent in order to boost the nation's economic growth, it is claimed.

Those looking for engineering jobs in China and other roles may be interested in an article published by state news agency Xinhua, which claims specialists in areas such as equipment manufacturing and emissions reduction will be recruited.

Speaking at a national conference about attracting overseas expertise, State Administration of Foreign Experts Affairs director Ji Yunshi stated more than 2.3 million overseas workers of this kind have moved to China in the past five years and declared officials will work with employment agencies to ensure the best professionals are hired for jobs.

The news source suggests that particular positions such programs will be looking to fill include those concerned the modernization of service sectors, development of core technologies and upgrading enterprises capabilities, with incentives offered to the best candidates to persuade them to work in China.

Recent figures from the National Bureau of Statistics showed entrepreneur confidence rose in China during the fourth quarter of 2010 by 1.1 percentage points to 137.0, driven by strong gains in the information and computer technology sector and the construction industry.
