Labor migration to China is increasing, with a growing number of foreign workers employed in the country.

This is according to a new report by the Ministry of Human Resources and Social Security, which revealed there were 231,700 such individuals in the nation by the end of 2010, Xinhua reports.

The number of workers hailing from other states increased from 223,000 during 2009, with higher levels of employees coming to China from Hong Kong, Taiwan and Macao last year.

Figures from the Beijing agency also revealed 5.47 million people who had previously lost their jobs found new work, while around 11.68 million new positions were created in China during the period in question.

Last month, the Beijing Times reported that human resources and social security vice-minister Yang Zhiming told a national conference that the government wants to see pay rates double by the end of 2015, something that may increase labor migration to China.
