Chinese company to provide US jobs boost

17 February 2011
A China-based manufacturing company is to create 150-200 new employment opportunities in Lafayette, Indiana.

Nanshan America Company has announced it will offer a number of engineering jobs in US as it invests $98.5 million in the construction of a new building facility and office block.

Indiana economic development officials revealed the vacancies will be filled over the next two to three years.

The firm produces aluminium industrial components for those working in the commercial transportation and automotive sectors.

Lijun Du, president of Nanshan America, said: "With the best equipment from Europe and America and an elite American management team and workforce, [the move] will make us among the leaders in the global aluminium industry."

Construction on the facility is expected to get underway in spring, with the operation expected to take around 15 months to complete.

Recent figures from the Bureau of Labor Statistics showed the number of job openings in the US remained at a steady rate throughout December last year.
