Cloud computing 'to generate employment for 100k in India'

The cloud computing market in India is anticipated to create 100,000 new employment opportunities, up from a current level of around 10,000, a new report claims.

According to a study on the issue, such technology being used by enterprises could reduce their costs by around 50 per cent and it will become increasingly popular over the next five years as a result.

Compiled by EMC Corporation and Zinnov Management Consulting and entitled Private Cloud Landscape in India, the research indicates the total market for cloud solutions will reach $4.5 billion by 2015, rising from a current level of $400 million at a rate of more than 60 per cent a year.

"Cloud computing will reshape the Indian IT market by generating new opportunities for vendors and driving changes in traditional IT offerings," Zinnov chief executive Pari Natarajan stated.
