Czech unemployment drops in 2011

09 January 2012
Unemployment in the Czech Republic saw an increase in December of last year, as the number of people without a job saw a second consecutive monthly rise.

However, according to the latest statistics released by official sources, according to AFP, the year of 2011 was a good one for employment in the country overall.

The report has shown that there were 35,126 more jobseekers in the country in December than there had been in November. A rise had also occurred in November, following a record low in October.

However, overall jobless numbers in 2011 showed that 8.6 per cent of the population had no jobs, a marked increase on the 9.6 per cent who were unemployed in the year prior.

It was recently reported that many EU workers, of which the Czech Republic is a member, are now heading overseas to find work.
