Employees 'can be productive out of the office'

22 October 2010
A total of 60 per cent of respondents to a recent poll stated they believe it is now possible to be productive away from the office.

Highlighting the shift towards flexible working, the survey by Cisco also showed that the same proportion of individuals would be prepared to choose lower-paid positions that allow them to operate in this way.

The international study of workplace attitudes questioned 2,600 employees and IT professionals in 13 countries and found that the desire for mobility and flexibility in their roles among respondents is strong.

Individuals seeking IT jobs may be interested to learn that the Cisco Connected World Report indicated 66 per cent of workers expect technology to provide them with access to corporate networks and applications from any device, in any location and at any time.

Furthermore, Cisco revealed that 93 per cent of those in India quizzed believed they could be productive outside the office.

Meanwhile, a survey carried out by experts from the Australian National University in Melbourne recently highlighted the importance of rewarding and high-quality jobs to individuals' mental wellbeing, which could include those with flexible elements.
