Employees 'want continuous development'

25 November 2010
Training schemes and programs of continuous development are a priority for workers.

This is according to new research from Randstad, which indicates eight out of ten employees would like the option to improve their skills throughout their careers.

In its quarterly work monitor survey, Recruiter reports the company explains 55 per cent of respondents think their firm is doing enough to assist with their development.

Furthermore, six out of ten respondents admitted they would be prepared to change roles to an employer that would provide them with more scope for improvement.

HR director for Randstad Staffing Graham Trevor told the news source: "It is important for organisations to recognise the value that employees attach to learning and development and ensure that their training matches staff expectations."

Randstad was recently awarded the FD Henri Sijthoff prize from Dutch newspaper Het FD for its 2009 annual report, which was praised by judges for its descriptions of how the company has weathered the economic downturn.
