Engineering jobs created in Dublin by aircraft firm

04 June 2010
The Irish labor market will benefit from the decision by aircraft maintenance firm Eirtech Aviation to move operations to Dublin Airport.

Minister for enterprise, trade and innovation Batt O'Keefe said this week that 71 jobs are to be created at the hub through a project supported by Enterprise Ireland.

Mr O'Keefe, speaking at Hangar Three, said the news emphasised the airport's ability to attract business and high-quality permament jobs.

Eirtech Aviation managing director Niall Cunningham added: "Our customer base includes international airlines, leasing companies and private jet operators and the establishment of our Dublin base provides greater flexibility to our clients."

The company currently employs 65 people and established itself via a management buy-out of Lufthansa Technik Painting Shannon back in 2009.

News of the labor opportunity comes the same week as the opening of a new technology development building in Tipperary.

Innovation Works 3 was unveiled by the country's government and brings investment in Tipperary Technology Park to €7.4 million.
