EU jobseekers hold talks with employers

04 October 2010
An event has taken place in Brussels that brought together thousands of jobseekers and employers.

It was one of a series of European Job Days that have been taking place in more than 200 cities across the European Union (EU) and was held on October 2nd.

It took place at the Berlaymont Building, headquarters of the EU and examined the need for skills to match demand within the labor market, with more than 80 organizations represented.

"We need economic recovery to create more job opportunities for people, but we can also make better use of existing opportunities," EU commissioner for employment, social affairs and inclusion Laszlo Andor remarked.

Job Days organized in 2009 resulted in around 1,000 vacancies being filled and included tours for visitors, meetings with recruiters, career guidance and advice about work-related issues.

They are aimed at individuals of all ages and at any stage of their career, with more than 750 advisers working on the 2010 events.
