EU Youth in Action initiative generates work opportunities

14 May 2010
Opportunities for employment among young people have been boosted by a European Union (EU) scheme, a new report states.

The EU Youth in Action program sponsors a range of projects in the region, with the majority of participants polled claiming it had improved their chances of finding a job.

Of those surveyed, 66 per cent said it had boosted their work opportunities, while 95 per cent reported their language skills had improved as a result of the investment.

Carried out by the European Commission, the poll of 4,550 young people, youth workers and youth organizations in all member states also found youth workers and organizations felt the program had helped to enhance their knowledge and project management abilities.

Youth in Action is a specific scheme dedicated to meeting changing expectations and needs for the age group, while also encouraging people of the younger generation to make a social contribution.
