European employment representatives hold talks with EU commissioner

18 January 2011
Meetings have been held between the European Confederation of Private Employment Agencies (Eurociett) and a European Union (EU) commissioner.

The talks held by the body with Laszlo Andor, EU commissioner for employment, social affairs and inclusion, examined the need to promote reforms of the region's labor market.

In addition, topics covered by the EU executive member and Eurociett president Annemarie Muntz, vice-president Alain Dehaze and other officials included examining the contribution agency work makes and could contribute towards an inclusive employment sector.

The Eurociett delegation, which also included Denis Pennel and Michael Freytag, provided an overview to Mr Andor based on the forthcoming Agency Work around the World report.

Eurociett stated: "The need for further research on labor market trends and flexible forms of employment has been highlighted, thus positioning agency work as the most secure form of external, flexible work."

Last month, managing director of Eurociett Mr Pennel emphasized the opportunity agency work offers young people to gain access to work experience and training.
