Those looking for IT jobs in Ireland could get a job search boost after Fine Gael announced plans to transform the nation into a "hub" for the production of computer games.

According to local news reports, Fine Gael is planning to implement a Five Point Plan to help support IT and technology jobs in the country, including tax reliefs for R&D spending.

The party will make sure that all payments from government departments and agencies are made electronically and push capital allowances on software purchases against other income and tax profits from eight years to three.

Leader of the Fine Gael party Enda Kenny said that IT jobs in Ireland and other high-tech work has been identified as a key area of growth for the Irish market.

He said the new plans would help the country achieve "real high-value jobs [and] high-value growth".

Official figures recently showed that in January, the number of people on unemployment tracker the Live Register decreased by 6,900.
