German manufacturing employment on the rise

The number of people employed in manufacturing in Germany rose by 3.6 per cent during November last year, according to new figures.
Data from the Federal Statistical Office showed that the year-on-year total of employees in units with 50 or more staff rose, taking the total to around 5.2 million.
Furthermore, there was good news for the food production
industry
, with an annual advancement of 1.9 per cent, while the chemical
industry
saw 3.9 per cent more people being employed at the end of November when compared to the previous year.
The metal and processing
industry
employment picture improved by 3.7 per cent and the automobile manufacturing sector saw a 3.5 per cent increase in employment.
German car maker BMW is also boosting manufacturing jobs in the US, and will add 300 new positions to its South Carolina plant along with investing $900 million for an expansion.
