Jobs in the German manufacturing industry grew majorly over the past 12 months, with over 184,100 jobs created since October 2010.

The German Federal Statistics Office released new figures on Thursday (December 15th) which said that the number of people employed in the sector grew by 3.7 per cent in the space of the year to the end of October, as 5.16 million people are now employed in the sector.

Manufacturing was also reported to have received a boost in employment figures in South Africa earlier this week, with 4,000 new jobs created in quarter three of 2011.

In Germany, the manufacturing of metal products showed the strongest year-on-year growth, with a 5.7 per cent increase in employment.
