Graduates 'should prepare to secure jobs overseas'

12 July 2011
Preparation is the key to ensuring that graduates are successful in securing new roles overseas.

This is according to expert Atiyah Wazir-Meadows, who stated applicants should carry out thorough research before they apply for positions and ensure they understand what would be expected of them if they were successful in gaining a job abroad.

The online editor of website Eurograduate explained that CVs should be suited to roles and the nation in which they are based, adding: "The format for cover letters and CV's vary according to each country to make sure you do your research before applying."

Ms Atiyah Wazir-Meadows suggested further efforts should be made when a job has been secured in order to ease the process of labor migration by ensuring individuals have a good understanding of local cultures and traditions before they enter the workplace.

Employment within the European Union is a key part of the 2020 strategy for economic and social growth over the next decade in the region.
