Healthcare jobs in India 'to lead 2011 recruitment'

02 April 2011
The healthcare sector will lead the market in terms of the numbers of jobs created in India during 2011, a report predicts.

Ma Foi Randstad reports that following strong hiring growth in the country during 2010, an estimated 1.6 million positions will be created during 2011.

In its Employment Trends survey, the company forecasts the number of healthcare jobs in India will grow by 248,500 this year.

The report also suggests nearly 80 per cent of the total labor market increase will take place within the services industry, while the manufacturing workforce is expected to expand by 223,400 roles.

Ma Foi Randstad managing director and chief executive E Balaji explained: "The changing market scenario across the globe and growing significance of emerging markets like India and China has led to many global corporates including these countries in their growth and workforce strategies."

The Randstad Workmonitor for the quarter to March, covering 29 nations, recently showed that Indians are the world's most ambitious employees, with 88 per cent of respondents from the country seeking a promotion.
