Hotel chain to generate new jobs at facilities in Europe

24 September 2010
InterContinental Hotels Group (IHG) has unveiled a total of 18 new hotels across Europe and is planning to hire employees to staff them.

The company revealed it is creating a total of 2,375 new rooms to its pipeline across the region during the summer, with facilities being opened in countries including Russia, Spain, Portugal, Turkey and Germany over the coming years.

Further hotels will also be launched in France and the UK, creating hundreds of hospitality and construction jobs in Europe, while IHG is planning a total of 1,300 premises worldwide, expected to create 160,000 positions.

According to the group's president for the Europe, Middle East and Asia region, Kirk Kinsell, the new signings are evidence of the confidence developers have in its brands and marketing efforts.

"It's encouraging to see that we've been able to maintain momentum with our growth strategy across Europe and around the world," he added.

The company, which is the largest hotels group in the world based on number of rooms, operates in 100 countries and territories globally.
