India and US 'will see increasing labor relations'
18 October 2011
Return to index
More labor migration will take place in the future between the US and India, it has been suggested.
A senior official at the US State Department has declared that the growing community with links to India in the country will help to strengthen ties between the two nations, according to the Press Trust of India.
Senior advisor for outreach at the Bureau of South and Central Asian Affairs, Mitul Desai, was addressing an audience of people from the Indian-American community and declared: "We know that governments alone cannot realize the full promise of this potential and that is why we need the Indian-American community's ideas, energy and commitment."
A second-generation Indian-American, Mr Desai predicted the disapora will boost fields such as services and technology and create a closer relationship between the US and India.
Msnbc.com recently reported that a growing number of US families are looking east to China and India for work as an alternative to remaining in the country during the current downturn.
