Indian corporates 'providing thousands of new jobs'

10 February 2011
Job opportunities in India appear to be gaining momentum, with corporate organizations increasing their hiring.

This is according to Silicon India, which reveals such businesses are offering 100,000 roles across a range of different industries.

It suggests $250 billion will be invested over the coming two years, with nearly one million roles created by the organized sector over the 2011-12 fiscal year.

The news source notes India is the world's most optimistic nation regarding recruitment at present, with hiring in the IT sector strengthening as the growth index expands and further jobs growth reported by the financial services, aviation, manufacturing and automotive fields.

Companies that have announced major appointment plans include Tata Consultancy Services, which plans to appoint 37,000 engineering graduates in addition to 23,500 already hired, while IT jobs are being generated by Cognizant, which is expecting to recruit 25,000 members of staff in 2011, the same figure as last year.

Meanwhile, the Times of India reports the Maharashtra state government has announced a jump of 76 per cent in funding for employment fairs following the success of events in the region.
