Return to index
The number of roles created by India's organized
industry
stood at more than 739,000 between January and September this year, a new report shows.
According to figures from Ma Foi Randstad, the quarter from October to December 2010 is expected to produce a further 394,700 opportunities for work.
The staffing and recruitment consultancy's latest Employment Trends Survey reveals the sectors creating the highest numbers of roles included hospitality, real estate and
construction
, healthcare and
IT
.
Based on a poll of 660 companies in eight cities across 13 sectors of the economy, the study indicates 260,052 healthcare posts have been added in 2010, with a further 116,700
IT jobs
in India.
K Pandia Rajan, managing director of Ma Foi Randstad, said: "We expect aggressive hiring in the coming months and also increase in salary levels."
The figures come after the Indo-Asian News Service reported Indian labor minister Harish Rawat predicted 58 million new jobs will be generated during the current five year plan period, due to end in 2012.
