Intel signs up to provide IT jobs training to US veterans
11 November 2011
Return to index
Armed forces veterans in the US could get access to
IT jobs
as part of a new partnership between Intel and the White House.
The technology giant has signed up for the Joining Forces initiative and launched the Intel Veteran's Employment Training program, which aims to give troops returning home the chance to train and learn new skills.
Interview techniques, tips on producing an effective resume and advice on searching for roles will be offered by the program and veterans who take part may boost their chances of securing a job in the
IT
industry
.
The scheme will be piloted in Alexandria, Virginia and vice-president and director of human resource enterprise services at Intel Ardine Williams described armed forces veterans as "highly attractive candidates and a good fit for Intel culture".
President Barack Obama and leading veterans' organizations recently backed the proposed Returning Heroes Tax Credit, which would give companies that take on unemployed former soldiers a maximum tax credit of $5,600 per veteran.
