Return to index
The Irish jobs market was boosted last year, as the introduction of a number of multinational companies helped to create a large volume of new jobs in the country.
With Twitter, Paypal, Intel, IBM and Coca-Cola all setting up bases in Ireland in 2011, it has been reported that the number of new jobs these global companies created was around 13,000.
The IDA, which is the organisation charged with bringing such foreign investors to Ireland, said that the country had a "strong performance" in 2011, in terms of attracting overseas companies.
These figures also meant that the number of jobs created by multinationals in the country in 2011 were 20 per cent higher than in 2010.
It was recently reported by Irish Small & Medium Enterprises Association that employment with SMEs in the country was improving, with working conditions getting better throughout the last year.
