IT recruitment news: Managers must brush up on law

26 August 2011
Firms interested in the latest IT recruitment news should note that when appointing managers they should be sure they are up to date with the law.

BCS, The Chartered Institute for IT, has issued guidance to those in the sector in a bid to remind them of some of the most important rules.

For example, it is an offence to use a software program more times than a business has copies, as this will break licensing laws.

"It's not just the IT department that need to know this, all managers must be aware of the implications of such things as data protection and health and safety," Jeremy Holt, editor of the organisation's new book, stated.

Among the advice dished out by the body is to ensure every computer has a mediation clause and to attach a full name and registration details of the company to every email and letter.

The European Information Technology Observatory recently said the IT markets in Brazil, Russia, India and China are booming.
