More US IT workers 'may seek new jobs'

23 July 2010
Recent pay cuts, additional workloads and other tensions between IT staff and their bosses caused by the economic downturn could lead many to start seeking new employment opportunities.

This is according to Computerworld, which noted that a recent survey by Harris Interactive found confidence among workers in the technology sector is increasing.

Individuals interested in IT jobs in the US may like to note that the poll of 4,367 workers discovered 38 per cent of those in the sector believe the economy is strengthening, up from 32 per cent quizzed during the previous quarter.

The news source suggested this is indicative of plans by many employees in IT operations to look for new positions, particularly as 61 per cent of those in the $35,000-$50,000 salary bracket are "likely" to do so during the coming year.

A recent study for the Techserve Alliance suggested that the US IT employment market will expand at a faster rate than other sectors in the future.
