New plans unveiled to create 1.5m Andhra Pradesh jobs

30 July 2011
The government of the Andhra Pradesh region of India has launched proposals aimed at creating 1.5 million new jobs within the next three years.

According to the area's chief minister N Kiran Kumar Reddy, the scheme will be aimed at those with low levels of skills, with development training provided to individuals that is related to industry need, particularly in sectors such as IT, tourism, healthcare, construction, hospitality, automotive and pharmaceuticals, the Business Standard reports.

He has directed officials to prepare a comprehensive plan relating to the Rajiv Education and Employment Mission, according to the news source, emphasizing the importance of employability in providing such programs.

"The training and skill development should suit the industry and also make the youth self-employable," the chief minister declared.

Located on the south-eastern coast of India, Andhra Pradesh attracts around 3.2 million visitors annually and is the top state in the country for tourism.
