Private employment services 'key to boosting European jobs'

05 October 2011
In order to generate new jobs and help people to enter the labor force, it is vital that private employment services are supported.

This is the claim made by BusinessEurope, the European Employers Confederation, which has declared that such resources are key to helping people get back into paid roles following the downturn.

According to the organization's publication Putting Europe to Work, 12 actions should be adopted to make labor markets more efficient and reach the Europe 2020 goal of 75 per cent employment.

Opening up private employment agencies to create jobs and improve participation rates by removing unjustified restrictions to their operations is one of the recommendations made.

The European Confederation of Private Employment Agencies (Eurociett) recently reported that June saw a 0.8 per cent increase in the number of agency work hours completed, marking the 15th month of year-on-year growth in the industry, despite declining levels of employment overall in some parts of the region.
