Randstad and Corridor merge to enforce position in Nordic professional segment

19 January 2010
The world's second-largest recruitment company, Randstad Group, increases its presence within the Norwegian market. Randstad acquires further shares in the Norwegian company Corridor, which changes its name and prepares for further growth.

Since being established in 1999, Corridor has grown to become a leading player in several sectors in the Norwegian staffing and recruitment sector.  By increasing shareholding in one of the Norwegian staffing and recruitment industry's fastest growing and most profitable companies, the Randstad Group, already with more than 26,000 employees in 46 countries, will have even greater reach to facilitate the expansion plans.

"Corridor has an efficient team of specialists, and is already one of the leading Norwegian players within recruitment and the hire of specialists within finance and accounting. Randstad wants to take this position also within IT and engineering, and this effort has already begun. Globally, these three segments are the largest within the professionals segment, and through our Norwegian subsidiary, we will have a good platform for future growth throughout the Nordic region" says Randstad Director for Scandinavia and Eastern Europe, Paul van de Kerkhof.

"Corridor provides us with an excellent platform for future expansion based on strong performance and high quality in this interesting segment".

"We are particularly impressed with how Corridor in 2009 has beaten the market by increasing its sales and market share in a turbulent year of international financial crisis, where virtually all competitors have experienced decline in revenues of over 25% percent," says Kerkhof.

Corridor was established in 1999 by Øyvind Sandvik, who shall remain the company's CEO. The company has 25 employees in Oslo and Stavanger. In the oil city, Corridor has in just over one year achieved a strong position within recruitment and staffing. Among other things, the establishment of an international division of engineering, led by an English team, has had a very good start.

"Changing to the Randstad brand means being part of a network with 26,000 colleagues in the five continents, it means greater international reach, a world leading candidate database, and top access to international expertise in staffing, hire, and the marketing of our services and expertise, "says Øyvind Sandvik.

In addition to the main areas of finance and accounting, IT and engineering, the "new" Norwegian Randstad also strengthens its commitment to the recruitment and hire of specialists in management and Human Resources.
