Randstad president selected as Ciett chief

05 October 2011
Fred van Haasteren, executive vice-president Social & General Affairs at Randstad, has taken up the role of president of Ciett, the International Confederation of Private Employment Agencies.

Having served at Randstad for the past 29 years and been a board member of Ciett for two decades, Mr van Haasteren will now move into a more hands-on role at the latter organization, providing his expertise in recruitment matters.

The HR veteran has already set out four key areas to be developed in his presidency, including implementing the four freedoms of private recruitment - the right to establish, operate, contact and negotiate.

He will also continue to encourage investment in high quality industrial relations as well as review and remove restrictions placed on agency workers.

The G20 labor ministers consultations that recently took place in Paris received contributions from Ciett, including information on how to create jobs in Korea from one member.
