Recent US college graduates 'choosing IT careers'
24 May 2010
Return to index
People who have recently graduated from college in the US are turning to IT as their top career choice, a new study suggests.
The poll by the University of California San Diego Extension suggests technology jobs are currently the most popular employment opportunity among such individuals.
Entitled Hot Careers for College Graduates 2010, the research identifies a series of growth sectors for new positions, including data mining, embedded engineering, internet feature writing and healthcare information technology.
"Jobs and needs in the healthcare information technology field are a critical component of plans for positive change in the healthcare industry," said Mary Walshok, UC San Diego Extension associate vice chancellor and dean of public programs.
Those seeking IT jobs in the US may also be interested to learn that industry experts speaking to Socaltech.com recently reported a steep increase in the number of technology appointments being made in southern California recently.
