Recruitment agencies industry praises G20 employment plans

09 November 2011
Employment plans announced by the G20 have been praised by the International Confederation of Private Employment Agencies (Ciett).

The G20 leaders declared their commitment to focusing on tackling the lack of jobs for young people at the Cannes Summit last week.

Ciett welcomed proposals to work together on driving economic growth, ensuring financial stability, creating employment positions and promoting social inclusion.

A G20 Task Force on Employment has been set up and Ciett announced it "looks forward to engaging with G20 governments" on the issue of boosting private sector jobs.

It was suggested that 60 per cent of Europe's working population is under 30 years old and so pushing for more training opportunities and work experience is vital.

The news comes after the final Cannes B20 Business Summit report recently outlined an urgent recommendation to promote better functioning of the labour markets and stimulate job creation.

Ciett corporate members Adecco and Randstad were invited to take part in the Employment and Social Dimension Working Group at the event.
