Rise recorded in automotive jobs in the US

02 December 2011
The number of automotive jobs in the US is anticipated to rise over the coming years, new figures predict.

According to the Center for Automotive Research (CAR) in Michigan, carmakers and suppliers in the country will generate as many as 200,000 new paid roles over the next four years, MLive reports.

The organization noted this is likely to include 30,000 workers added to the payroll of the "Detroit Three" of General Motors, Ford and Chrysler Group, with a further 120,000 positions created in auto parts businesses.

Employment opportunities in the industry between now and 2015 are expected to increase in response to rising levels of demand for US vehicles.

"We're sort of in the midst of our rebound and return to the historical sales trend," stated director of the labor group at the center Kristin Dziczek at a conference.

A report from the CAR entitled The US Automotive Market and Industry in 2025 recently included projections about factors such as vehicle production, pricing and employment in the future.
