Second quarter sees IT jobs in the US created
24 July 2011
Return to index
The number of
IT jobs
in the US increased during the second quarter of 2011, new figures have indicated.
According to data from the TechServe Alliance, employment in the
industry
expanded in the three months to June, rising year-on-year by almost 133,000 positions.
However, there was a slight pause in
IT
recruitment during June, with the number of roles dipping slightly by 300 to 4.0512 million.
Mark Roberts, TechServe Alliance chief executive, declared: "While growth in
IT
employment paused in June, all signs point to the sector continuing to outperform the overall job market."
He added the outlook for the remainder of the year is positive, with the month-to-month change in hiring during June attributable to "the dynamic nature of the economy and labor market".
Meanwhile, those seeking
engineering jobs
in the US may be interested in a new study from AE International indicating the automotive, aerospace and commercial vehicles industries are experiencing skills shortages.
