Spain unveils measures to boost jobs
27 March 2010
Return to index
The Spanish government has unveiled a series of proposals that will assist in the country's economic recovery.
Including measures that will generate more jobs, the fiscal stimulus policies have been sent to other political parties to garner support, Reuters reports.
Under the plans from the Economy Ministry, small businesses will be given greater access to finance and the energy sector will receive a boost.
"Regarding the impact on the economy and employment, this cannot be measured directly," Elena Salgado, Spain's economy minister, said of the series of 55 measures.
Madrid is also exploring ways of reducing the country's structural deficit by agreeing a series of cost-cutting plans with the regional authorities.
Spain's employment general secretary Maravillas Rojo recently declared changes should be made to regulations governing European Union citizens working in other member states to ensure they are provided with the rights existing in the country in which they are employed rather than their country of origin.
