Swedish employment figures on the rise

27 January 2012
The number of people in Sweden who are finding jobs is now on the increase, after it was revealed that the employment figures are on the rise once again.

Latest statistics which have been released by the Swedish Central Statistics Bureau (SCB) have revealed that there was a slight increase in the number of people aged between 15 and 74 who had found jobs in December 2011.

This took the number of people in work up to 65.1 per cent, with unemployment dropping to just 7.1 per cent, keeping Sweden far ahead of poor performing EU countries such as Spain, where unemployment sits at over 22 per cent of the population.

The number of people who were employed in December 2011 was 4,621,000. This was an increase of 68,000 when compared to the year prior in the northern European country, as Swedes worked 2.8 per cent more hours on average last year than they did in December of 2010.
