Temporary agency work program approved

15 April 2011
An agreement on the European Sectoral Social Dialogue Committee on Temporary Agency Work has been reached.

The program outlined in the 2011-12 strategy document has been approved by Unieuropa and the European Confederation of Private Employment Agencies (Eurociett).

Under the plans, a focus will be placed on social dialogue between partner agencies in order to increase the contribution made to the labor market by temporary agency work.

The two organizations will work together to monitor changes to European legislation and policy relating to jobs and provide support to members as the provisions of the EU directives on agency work and the posting of staff are implemented.

At the end of the year, the bodies plan to propose a project studying the impact of non-permanent contracts on moving from unemployment or education into work.

Eurociett recently reported a 25.2 per cent rise in the European agency work industry over the year to January 2011, marking ten consecutive months of growth.
