UK prime minister vows to boost Indian jobs

29 July 2010
As part of efforts to strengthen the relationship between the UK and India, David Cameron has vowed to boost jobs.

According to the British prime minister, who is currently on a visit to the Asian nation, he wants to increase co-operation between the two nations and has insisted that India will gain from any additional ties, the Press Association reports.

Leading a delegation of business leaders and politicians from the UK to India, Mr Cameron described his trip as a "jobs mission" and the largest exercise of its kind in living memory.

He also used his visit to announce that export licences relating to civil nuclear trade will be approved by the UK in future, which could boost engineering jobs in India.

Meanwhile, as many as 2.5 million new vacancies could be generated in India following the recent completion of a trade agreement by the nation with the European Union, according to the Apparel Export Promotion Council.
