Engineers 'urged to go nuclear to find success'
13. november 2009
Return to index
Engineers opting to work in the nuclear sector could forge long-standing and successful careers for themselves, it has been asserted.
Although there are currently multitudes of nuclear power stations under construction in many countries of the world, many decommissioning projects are also in need of professionals to lead their operations, reports science magazine Eureka.
Head of the nuclear division of Scantec Personnel Adam Spelman told the publication that professionals such as engineers, surveyors and skilled tradesmen are among those in demand in the nuclear sector.
He continued: "Well-paid opportunities now exist in the nuclear industry. It is important to point out that the nuclear sector is willing to train up staff who have core skills."
This news comes after the head of the Australian Water Association warned that as many as 40,000 trained engineers will be needed between now and 2018 to help the country deal with its utilities infrastructure.
