Moving jobs in Ireland has a sufficiently "flexible" infrastructure, a politician has stated.

Dara Calleary, who is the minister for labor affairs, was commenting on issues raised by the Migrant Rights Center of Ireland regarding worker exploitation.

Condemning such action as "unacceptable", Mr Calleary went on to defend the job movement policy as "sufficiently flexible", noting that 1,500 new permits were given last year for employer changes.

Permits under the current system are valid only for certain locations and employers, but Mr Calleary said that this is necessary to protect employees' rights properly.

He claimed that not tracking them well enough made it harder to prevent exploitation and permit abuse.

Meanwhile, 55 new jobs are available in Kerry Technology Park from wind turbine maker ENERCON and technology company Straker.

Batt O'Keeffe, minister for enterprise, trade and innovation, said that the developments show that Ireland is recovering from the recent recession.
