Polish employment rate increases
27. mai 2010
Return to index
The rate of employment in Poland grew month-on-month by 0.3 per cent in April, new data show.
According to an estimate by Bloomberg, based on information from the Polish Central Statistical Office, an additional 14,600 jobs were created over the period in question.
The news source revealed such figures for the country were better than predictions made by 11 economists polled and noted the data ends a series of 15 months in a row of falling employment.
Manufacturing exports are helping to push up the numbers of people in work and year-on-year corporate wages in Poland were up by 3.2 per cent to 3,398.67 zloty in April, following an annual climb of 4.8 per cent the previous month.
Lukasz Tarnawa, chief economist at PKO BP, commented: "This shows we're going to have a gradual recovery, with no fireworks. The labor market is stabilizing."
KBC Bank, quoted by website FX Traders, has forecast strong production figures for the nation, pushed upwards by the German economic recovery coupled with better domestic demand during the second quarter of the year.
