US automotive sector 'recovering'Employment opportunities in the US carmaking industry have increased as production levels rise.

This is according to the Detroit Free Press, which notes that companies in the sector are starting to rehire in the wake of a gradual economic recovery in the country.

Following low sales and poor profits, automotive businesses are witnessing an improvement and purchases of new vehicles are expected to increase over the year.

The report may be of particular interest to those seeking engineering jobs in the US, with the news source citing Ford and General Motors as firms creating such openings.

In March, purchases of cars and trucks rose by 15.5 per cent year-on-year and CSM Worldwide forecasts steady growth in production through to 2012.

The rising employment opportunities in the carmaking sector echo a March increase in non-farm payroll employment, according to US government data which demonstrated that 162,000 new posts were created over the month.ADNFCR-1275-ID-19733377-ADNFCR
