Are you ready to drive growth, engagement, and visibility within a vibrant European network? We are looking for a hands-on Communications and Events Advisor to join the European Wergeland Centre (EWC) for a 16-month engagement. Skills for Democracy (S4D) is one of the flagship initiatives of EWC. In this role, you will work closely with the S4D Coordinator, project colleagues, and EWC's communications team.
Your key responsibilities:
This is a dual-focused (50/50) operational role spanning communications/visibility and network/event management. You will:
- Develop and implement a communication plan to drive growth, participation, and visibility for the S4D initiative.
- Create, layout and publish multi-channel content (newsletters, websites, social media, press releases), ensuring visual consistency and quality.
- Transform complex project data and MEAL results into concise policy briefs, case summaries, and targeted messaging for international partners and donors.
- Drive the daily operations of the S4D Digital Hub by mapping communities, publishing learning resources, and facilitating knowledge sharing.
- Plan and execute international events end-to-end - from webinars and workshops to high-profile conferences - with a focus on program development, content curation, and technical setups.
- Build an active, engaged network community by maintaining regular contact with European partners, highlighting success stories, and reinforcing EWC’s position as a hub for democratic education.
Why join us?
- A unique, hands-on opportunity to directly strengthen democratic values and education across Europe during a 16-month pilot phase, with a strong likelihood of extension beyond the initial period.
- A central operational role bridging grassroots educational efforts with the broader European policy and donor landscape.
- An inspiring, multicultural, and collaborative working environment in the heart of Oslo.
Who are you:
You are a structured and hands-on relationship builder who thrives on driving daily operations forward independently. You seamlessly balance tactical execution - like drafting content, updating web pages, and setting up digital event platforms - with a clear understanding of how your daily tasks support overarching strategic goals.
Qualifications
- Higher degree in a relevant field (e.g., Communications, Political Science, International Relations, or Human Rights).
- Operational experience in content creation, web publishing, and digital community management.
- Practical experience in planning, content curation, and executing webinars and international events.
- Full professional proficiency in English (written and spoken).
- Exceptional copywriting skills, with the ability to synthesize complex project data into engaging content for international audiences.
Nice-to-have:
- Experience working with donor-funded European programs or international NGOs.
- Experience collaborating in multicultural environments and understanding of European political/cultural nuances.
